The Beginning of the End

Background
I worked at a top-ranked advertising agency for the past 3.5 years and recently just got laid off. I fancied two options: working on another piece of business (doing the same shit) or taking the severance package and running.

It's going to be insane -- I've never traveled overseas as an adult. I've never lived outside of Los Angeles. I've never been away from my family for more than three weeks. I've never even backpacked, and the longest amount of cold I've experienced was during weekend trips to Mammoth -- with aged whiskeys, hot jacuzzis, and winter green to ease my soul after a long day of snowboarding.

Admittedly, I'm scared shitless of what I may be getting myself into; but at the same time, I'm pretty excited to see what I may be getting myself out of.

Contact

The only way to contact me is to leave comments on this blog, Facebook or via email (proefound@yahoo.com). Other than that, I've decided to fuck off.

Wish me lush.

FEBRUARY 9, 2008 - PADDINGTON STATION

Waiting for Heathrow Express to take me to the airport. Woke up super energetic despite getting 3 hours of sleep. Had to jot down a few Ukrainian phrases in advance: Lonely Planet taught me how to say "Hello," "Thank you," and "I do not understand." I think soon enough I'm going to hear a lot of "Well, looks like you're fucked." The book probably figured I'd learn it on my own. Either way, I'm very excited to see what Ukraine has to offer; and I'm excited to see what I'm about to leave behind.
So London = good, great expensive, beautiful. On a scale of 1-100, New York would be a 90 and London would be a 75. I don't think I'd ever come back to vacay, though Ben was a real cool cat and very hospitable. We discussed politics and cultural differences between the US and UK. Needless to say, he'll have a resource in me should he never need it. Train's starting to take off now -- gotta get my last glimpses of the city before I come back for my return flight -- supposedly 4 months later. I'm losing my mind just thinking about it.
